How to read these numbers

Every range here is a national figure from a published cost guide, read on October 2, 2026. Cost guides blend many jobs across the country, so they show what is normal, not what you will pay. Use them to spot a quote far outside the range, and to ask why.

Three things move a repair price most in these sources: the part (a capacitor and a compressor are both AC repairs), the time of the call (after hours and weekends cost more), and access and size (roof pitch and stories, how far the pro travels).

Using the table with a real quote

  1. Find the line that matches your job

Match the part or job, not just the trade.

  2. Compare the written quote

Far above the range? Ask what is included: parts, trip fee, after-hours rate, disposal.

  3. Get another quote for big jobs

Compressors, panels and roof replacement are where a second written bid pays for itself.

About this page

We do not earn anything from your quotes or sign-ups today. Every partner link is a plain link to the partner's own site, without a referral code. We may join partners' referral programs in the future, and this notice will say so before that changes.

Cost figures are national ranges published by the sources named on each page, on the date we read them. Your price depends on your home, your area and the pro. The partner's or pro's own page and written quote are the final word on price, coverage and terms.

FixLine Local does not do repairs, does not employ or inspect pros, and does not pass your details to anyone. Each button opens the partner's own site.
